Job Description
  • Advise students on a variety of academic issues such as courses that will satisfy general education and degree requirements; selection of a major field of study; scholastic and probationary problems, and College (or Department) policies and procedures.
  • Assist students with course registration, schedule planning and adjustments.
  • Monitor academic progress of students; analyze progress reports from instructors; determine eligibility and satisfactory progress toward degree; identify current and potential needs or problem areas and refer students to appropriate campus resources for assistance; communicate findings to coaches and faculty advisors as appropriate.
  • Through a collaborative process with students, assess educational and career objectives, and foster personal initiative and responsibility in meeting these objectives. Make oneself available and accessible to students and campus community members, interacting with them in such a way that they experience a sense of belonging and that they feel that their concerns are valued.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and implementation of technology tools and resources and educate students on use of technology to support academic success.
  • Interact and collaborate with campus offices such as Admissions, Financial Aid, Disability Access Services and Counseling to ensure student success.
  • Assist students with academic and non-academic problem solving. Provide general campus information. Refer students to appropriate campus resources e.g. financial aid, disability services, academic support, international student services, student health services, counseling services, and career planning and placement.
  • Run degree audits. Prepare, update, and finalize graduation lists. Conduct Latin Honors checks.
  • Contact and/or meet with prospective students and attend recruitment functions.
  • Interpret and explain college and university policies and procedures to both students and faculty; participate in preparation for new student orientations and/or assist in presenting academic information to new students during orientation.
  • Evaluate transfer transcripts from other academic institutions for equivalencies and application to specific degree programs.
  • Monitor program requirement changes and communicate to appropriate individuals and groups.
  • Maintain liaison with personnel in other student support units to coordinate activities and promote good relations.
  • Serve as student advocate with members of the faculty and representatives of student service units.
  • Other duties as assigned.

40 hour week

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in higher education or closely related field.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of academic advising and professional best practices.
  • Experience working with multiple demands, schedules, and work styles.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student populations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and complete student files and office records.
  • Proficient in university admissions, registration, and MS Office systems
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $50,367 - $61,173 annual
