Position Primary Purpose and General Duties:

The Research Informatics Business Analyst will serve as a liaison between the Wright Center informatics team and non-technical stakeholders in clinical research at VCU, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the VCU Health System (VCUHS) compliance office, and study teams conducting clinical research. This role will be responsible for shepherding individual projects through the research pipeline with duties such as recommending technical solutions to address research needs, collecting requirements for data extracts, and verifying that VCUHS and IRB regulatory requirements are followed when provisioning clinical datasets for research. This role will also make use of Epic tools such as SlicerDicer and Reporting Workbench

Minimum Hiring Standards:
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to healthcare or information technology or equivalent work experience
  • At least two years experience working in clinical research, healthcare, and/or informatics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to clearly and concisely translate requirements and limitations between technical and non-technical personnel
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with competing demands from multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated competence organizing complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Voracious appetite for learning new skills
Preferred Hiring Standards:
  • Professional experience working at the intersection of healthcare/clinical research and informatics
  • Extensive knowledge of HIPAA regulations
  • Experience using Epic SlicerDicer and Reporting Workbench
  • Experience working as an IRB analyst
  • Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL
  • Professional experience in project management
